UFCW Victorious!

  • An Overwhelming Win
Pharmacists from Albertsons, Ralphs and Vons overwhelmingly voted for the UFCW Professional Division in the August 2008 Representation Election. The strength of the vote is a clear mandate from the pharmacists for the UFCW Professional Division to pursue the best pharmacy contract in the nation. The Guild and companies were stunned by the margin of victory.
  • Election Results
    UFCW: 67% of votes
    Guild: 17% of votes

Update: Medi-Cal Cuts Allowed to Proceed
Attention UFCW Albertsons Pharmacists - "On-Duty" Meal Period Meetings and Forms Violate Your Rights

The UFCW understands that Albertsons has been holding meetings and distributing waiver forms for your signature regarding an “on the clock” meal period. This direct dealing by Albertsons is a violation of our contract and the National Labor Relations Act and, according to our attorneys, violates YOUR rights under the California Labor Code.

As such, the UFCW has requested a meeting with Albertsons to bargain with the Unions prior to taking any further action with regard to the meal-period policy and the waiver forms.

If you have any questions regarding this policy and/or the UFCW Professional Division's efforts on your behalf, please send an e-mail to .

Attention UFCW Vons Pharmacists

You may have recently received an email communication from Vons management regarding Vons’ new vacation pay policy. Since the e-mail is confusing and somewhat misleading, the UFCW wishes to clarify the policy and your rights:

  • RE: Pharmacy Operations in Fire Affected Areas of California
California pharmacies are reminded that the Board of Phamacy has activated its emergency response provisions to all pharmacies under the authority granted it by Business and Professions Code 4062 and its disaster response policy. It is the expectation of the board that patients in or from affected areas will continue to receive prescription medicine, and pharmacists are expected to use professional judgment in providing care. The priority of the board is patient care first. Pharmacists licensed in other states are welcome to help provide pharmacy services to affected patients in California.
